Celebrating Our Son, Tyler

tyler-collage-web

Our son, Tyler, took his last breath last Friday, and with that breath, received full healing from the cancer he fought for almost a full year. Our hearts grieve that he’s not here to hug, tickle, and have in our presence, and yet we are covered in the peace that passes understanding and deep comfort knowing he’s healed and wholly restored. God chose to give him a forever healing. We could not be more proud of Tyler and the way his life reflected joy, compassion, courage, gratitude, open-handed living, and faith in a God who loves him even more than we do. Because of our firm foundation of faith, we walk in victory and we walk in hope.  We know that Friday was a heavy “see you later,” and not a “goodbye.”

We will celebrate his life this Friday, October 14th, and invite you to join us.  While Tyler was given a sprint and not a marathon, his life had a profound impact on many, many lives. He leaves us with a legacy that speaks to both older and younger generations.

Dear Jonathan and Family,

You probably do not remember who I am, but I attended a photography workshop you had at your house about 5 summers ago. Tim Hockersmith invited me to attend, and then my wife and I ran into you at a wedding you did for a friend.

I wanted to say how sorry I am for the loss of your son. I cannot imagine how difficult this time must be, but I want you to know you are in my thoughts and prayers. I am praying that God will surround you in his love and give you comfort and peace during this time.

Sincerely,

David Brown

I met your beautiful family when my daughter, Aimee, had her senior pictures taken in Manitou. Tyler had just been born..maybe a couple weeks old. My heart goes out to your family and because I care..I share your sorrow..

Dear Lindsey and family,
I am so sorry for each of you. My prayers are with you now and in the coming months. May God bless each of you with beautiful memories.

DickWoodhouse - October 12, 2016 - 7:52 pm

Hugs and love to you all, Jon. My heart has been with you through this journey.

Courtney Wohl - October 14, 2016 - 9:40 am

I met Jon the day before Tyler’s passing and would’ve never known, guessed or imagined what you had going on in your personal life. It’s hard to find words to express sorrow during times like these, but I am extremely sorry for the loss of your son. I also have a 6yr old little guy, who oddly enough was going to be named Brennan Tyler, but we went with a different middle name, and I just can’t imagine how you feel right now. My heart hurts for your whole family. I hope you all can find peace and healing with whatever outlet you choose.
My deepest sympathy,
Courtney Wohl

Jesus wept because He saw the pain that death brought to the hearts of the people, but than He raised Lazarus from the grave. For those that know Christ, their is pain for the loss here on earth, but joy and hope in knowing that there is a resurrection and one day His People will all be together again. My prayers are with your family and your testimony is a great witness.

Lynn and Ellen Davis - October 15, 2016 - 11:06 am

We are friends of the Schorrs in Lincoln and want you to know we understand your pain and your trust in God’s grace. Our son died last December 29. While he was 58 not a child, he was just as beloved and is just as missed. Pain is gone, they are free of cancer. God is good…always. our prayers will be with you now and always. Parents always have a tear in their hearts when the lose a child of any age.

Mike Sechler - October 15, 2016 - 1:04 pm

Betz family,

I have been where you are. Heck I still am where you are. Four years ago this week, my 11 year old son Micah went to be with Jesus. We prayed the same prayer for healing and got the same response from God. Micah is now healed and with his Savior.

Give glory to God in this moment and in the future, but remember that grieving is part of giving Him glory. Keep crying when you need to. (I did this morning when I watched some old video.)

When we grieve we are expressing our love for our kids. We are also acknowledging they are a good gift from God, and that the works is still broken.

I look forward more now to the return of Jesus when he makes all thing new. I declare with the Apostle John, Maranatha, Come Lord Jesus Come.

Esther Lee - October 16, 2016 - 2:37 pm

I just happened to look you up today and saw the news. Your family is a blessing to all of us watching from the outside how God is good in all our lives despite not getting the answer we would like. Thank you for being so transparent during this heavy time. What a moment it must have been to watch Tyler pass onto glory!

Nathan | Pine Creek High School Senior Portraits | Class of 2016

Nathan is described as optimistic, light-hearted, and mature with a great sense of humor.  He is a recent graduate from Pine Creek High School.  His senior photography session happened to be scheduled on his birthday, so Jon had a birthday cupcake for him to enjoy at the end!

During high school, Nathan was active in youth group, Bible study, and played on the soccer team.  He loves hanging out with friends and playing video games and has an affinity for bow ties.  We love bow ties on our senior guys!  A highlight during his high school years was climbing Mt. Elbert.

We were honored to see his family back with us for senior portraits after first photographing Nathan’s older sister a couple years back.  We love continuing to be the photographer of choice for a family and the blessing it is to continue the relationship.

Amaya | Air Academy High School | Class of 2016

Amaya is one of Air Academy High School’s most recent graduates!  She was an active cheerleader and considered herself ‘tiny & mighty!’  They are a military family, so they have lived in a lot of places over the years.  The moves have made strong family ties.  While she is looking forward to nursing school out of state, her family plans to call Colorado “home”.  Enjoy portraits from her Senior Session in Cheyenne Cañon.

Nicole | Rampart High School Senior Portraits |Class of 2016

Nicole is a proud, recent graduate of Rampart High School!  She’s funny and studious and incredibly musical.  She was active in color guard and both the marching and concert bands in high school where she excelled in both the mellophone and french horn.  She’s planning to continue her music studies into college.

Nicole chose our one-hour senior session and matched well with the location of Palmer Park.  We enjoyed creating some wonderful portraits with sunflowers, her instruments, and a sunset finish.

Marciano | Falcon High School | Class of 2016

Marciano is a recent Falcon High School graduate in the Class of 2016.  During his time in high school, he played football and rugby.  It was special to see his family back with us as we’d photographed family portraits and his older sister’s senior portraits a few years ago.  They were away from Colorado during the years in between these sessions and are excited to be back!  Marciano chose our one-hour Senior Session with Downtown Colorado Springs as his location.  We’re excited to share from his session.
