Family Portraits May Mini-Session Event | Garden of the Gods

We are so excited to share portraits from our mini-session day in May!  We offer these limited opportunities for family mini-sessions each year, and much like our high school senior mini-sessions, they are wonderful opportunities for our high quality photography within a simplified session structure.  Our last mini-session event for 2016 will be on July 9th in Cheyenne Cañon, and if you’d love to take part in that, please contact our Studio at 719-291-9798.  Spaces are limited and filled on a first come, first served basis.

Our mini-session event in May was at Garden of the Gods, and we’ve had so much fun with each of these families.  Some are returning families and some brand new; all of them excited for wall art for their homes.  We love creating awesome portraits for our families, and we equally love matching favorite portraits with the highest quality prints and products.  In our own home, we have canvases and groupings of framed portraits decorating our walls and showing the progression of our kids over the last 8 years.  We know firsthand how much we love seeing these portraits each and every day.  Memories are remembered as we view them.  We know each of these families will share this experience.  All too often in our digital world, pictures stay trapped as computer files or remain unseen on a disc buried in a drawer.  They are often simply shared in the social media world.  We too love many of the benefits of digital and social media.  Yet, deep down, we all know that we connect differently with the tangible.  Deep down, we want to leave a legacy beyond our Facebook or Instagram accounts.  At the heart of our business are the tangible prints and products that give each of our families precious legacy pieces to love in the present and pass down to the future generations.

Our Senior Portraits Mini-Session | where Simplicity meets Artistry

We know lots of high school seniors dream about our multi-hour Senior Experience photography session; however, for others, even our one-hour Senior Session feels like too much!  Each senior is different in their thoughts and goals for their senior portraits, and we believe we have a great session structure for everyone.  Our Senior Portrait Mini-Sessions have amazing advantages and benefits to a great handful of seniors each year.  We truly believe it’s where simplicity meets artistry.  In just 20 minutes, Jon can do amazing portraits – including with an outfit change!  This session is a perfect fit for seniors who want quality yet are looking for a simplified approach.  When you just need 10-15 portraits to choose from for a great yearbook submission and keepsakes for your family, consider our Mini-Session!  This session is also a great way to spend less creating the portraits and save more to invest in our professional-quality prints and products.  Our mini-sessions help many families do more with their photography budget.  But enough talking…we’ll let samples from a handful of our Class of 2016 Mini-Sessions show you how 20 minutes and two outfits may be all you need.

Alex | Discovery Canyon High School Senior Portraits | Class of 2016

Congratulations to Alex, one of Discovery Canyon’s newest graduates!

Alex has a thoughtful and quiet personality and excels in her academics.  She was a member of the yearbook club during her time in high school.  She chose Garden of the Gods as the setting for her senior photography session.  The best parts about choosing Garden of the Gods are the iconic views of Colorado Springs, wonderful variety of settings within the park, and the abundance of mountain views.

We wish her the best as she enjoys the start of college studies in the fall!

Our Family Update…Continuing to Share Our Journey

Jonathan Betz Photography Cancer Journey

It’s been a crazy seven months since we shared with you our son’s cancer diagnosis back in November.  You can read that post here:  Sharing Our Family’s Journey  As of last Friday, Tyler completed his treatment plan!  That is cause for celebration, though we have quickly realized that the end to his treatment plan is not a true “end.”  It’s simply the beginning of a new and unending chapter where we pray every scheduled scan in his future comes back clear of cancer.  It’s hard to realize that it will only be in looking back that we will know if we are really “done.”

That aside, we are so grateful for all the ways God carried our family through the months of active treatment.  There was an obvious covering over Tyler that protected him from all but the most common (and fairly unavoidable) side effects and protected his health from sickness when his immune system was depressed from the chemo.  In all, Tyler went through six rounds of chemo and then six weeks of M-F radiation treatments in Denver.  The radiation was the most taxing part of his treatment due to the daily drives back and forth to Denver; however, we were amazed to watch him come through 30 radiation treatments so well.  He attended the majority of his school days the whole time and experienced few (if any) side effects.  Our treatment team was incredibly pleased and quite impressed.  We credit our good and loving God watching over him and granting amazing mercy.  It remains to be seen what his long-term, permanent effects from radiation may be.  It’s quite likely that his endocrine system will be permanently affected, yet that will be a small price to pay for LIFE.

We’ve experienced plenty of hard days and wiped many tears from our faces on our cancer journey, yet it’s in the hard and broken times that God is revealed in new, deep ways.  We watched our faith be the foundation for us and experienced joy and gratitude in abundance.  Those were gifts that carried us through and blessed us greatly.

We thank you and the hundreds of people who have supported us through prayer and in tangible ways as well.  We are forever grateful for the many blessings we have received and know that our faithful God walks with us intimately each day.

– Lindsay

Adam | Liberty High School Senior Portraits | Class of 2016

Adam is one of Liberty High School’s newest graduates!  During his high school years he was active with the marching band and orchestra.  He’s a member of the brass section, marching with the mellophone and playing the french horn when in orchestra.  He and a group of friends enjoyed “tank top Tuesday,” and working out and weight training are healthy parts of Adam’s schedule.  He loves cars, video games, and hiking.  Looking ahead to possible career paths, Adam is considering engineering, though his family can also picture him pursuing a career with fitness or nutrition.

Our best to you, Adam, as you celebrate a huge milestone in your life and look ahead to beginning college this fall!
