Cheyenne | Vista Ridge High School Senior Portraits | Class of 2016

Cheyenne is a talkative, outgoing “tomboy” girl who loves her family and excels both academically and athletically.  She plays 3rd base on her softball team and is dreaming of a great athletic scholarship for college.  She’s hoping for somewhere in Texas and plans on a major in Exercise Science with possible minors in Physical Education or Sports Medicine.  She also loves her skateboard and had fun bringing in many of these loves and interests into her senior photography session.  She’s also musical and plays both accoustic and electric guitar.  Her family chose our multi-hour Senior Experience session to have the necessary time to create a wide variety of portraits at multiple locations.  Her locations included Old Colorado City, Garden of the Gods, and the softball field at Vista Ridge High School.  She has awesome portraits to share, and the ones at Garden of the Gods are especially unique as her late-summer session happened on one of the days when we had haze from out-of-state forest fires over the mountains.  That haze made for some amazing backdrops that are truly unique for her!

Tim | Rampart High School Senior Portraits | Class of 2016

Tim’s family has been such a blessing to have back with us, not only for his senior portraits this year, but also for family portraits just a handful of weeks ago.  Tim describes himself as quirky and loud (he’s the youngest with five older siblings, so that’s probably a quality he needed growing up!).  He’s planning on a business degree when he enters college next Fall.  He’s active in Rampart High School’s DECA group and plays lacrosse competitively.  He loves old cars, loves to eat, and enjoys the outdoors.  His senior portraits were taken at Garden of the Gods and feature many of our beautiful views.  The benefit of a session at Garden of the Gods is senior portraits that connect powerfully back to Colorado Springs.  We’re excited to share favorites from his senior pictures session!

Scenes from Our Ireland Travels | Travel Photography by Jonathan Betz

Last summer we had an amazing 10-year anniversary trip to Ireland, North Whales, and Scotland.  We spend the majority of our time in Ireland.  This was a trip for just the two of us, and we had a great time navigating new places with just paper maps, meeting new people to ask for directions (they ALL say, “You can’t miss it!”…but you can – and often DO – miss it!), and while driving on the opposite side of the road.  While we took oodles of amazing pictures, we thought it’d be fun to finally post at least of handful of favorites!  So many great memories…

Sharing Our Family’s Journey with You

The beautiful thing about our photography business is the way that our lives become connected and intertwined with yours.  Our client families are an extension of our own family.  We are invited into your lives, and in turn, you become invited into ours.  It’s beautiful, and yet, sometimes our lives are messy and painful.  Because we’re connected together, we invite you into the hard journey our family will be on over the next 8-10 months.  On October 31st, our five-year-old son, Tyler (now a new 6-year-old!), was diagnosed with cancer.  He’d been having headaches since we returned from a fall break trip, and after 4 doctors’ visits over the next 10 days, we took him to the ER where they did an MRI and found a brain tumor.  While we are not alone in hearing those words spoken to us, when you hear it, your heart falls and your world changes.  In light of news you never want to hear, we are so thankful for so many of God’s mercies in all of this…

– Tyler is fully expected to beat this cancer through chemo and radiation and does not need brain surgery

– We have experienced an outpouring of love and support from family and friends around the world

– Our God is Present, Big, Able and has Tyler securely in the palm of His hand

– He has already given us Hope and a peace that passes all understanding

This will be a hard journey.  There’s just no easy way through cancer.  We invite you into this part of our family’s story because our stories matter and because your prayers are exactly what we need during this time.  We are still running our business, it just might look a little different for the next handful of months.  And we hug our kids a little tighter and seek out the joy and blessing of each day.  Because each day has new meaning.  Each day is a gift.
