Throwback Thursday Feature | Drew Class of 2021 | Sand Creek High School Grad

Life’s been busy and the world got a bit crazy over the past two years, and in the midst of it all, we missed a handful of blog features from sessions we absolutely loved. So this Thursday and into the next couple weeks, we’ll be doing some throwback features!

Drew kicks off this Throwback Thursday with his awesome urban session for his senior portraits. We love his formal tux and bowtie – he’s proof of how sharp the formal look photographs in every setting.

During high school, he was incredibly active in musical theater and choral groups – he was part of the Colorado Springs Children’s Chorale and in many of the Sand Creek High School ensembles. While his career plans and studies are focused on chemical engineering, he plans to continue his singing and performance throughout his life, whether in choral groups, performing in operas, or finding a great barbershop quartet.

We’re so thankful for this family’s trust in us for both of their son’s senior portraits and know their portrait art keeps them close to the heart during the college years.

Liam | Pine Creek High School Senior Portraits | Class of 2022

We’ve loved having this family with us since 2014 for family portraits, professional head shots, and senior portraits! We are always beyond thankful for the loyalty of our client families. That loyalty is always our highest compliment.

Liam is an accomplished wrestler and a welder. He’s planning to pursue a career in welding or possibly engineering. He’s currently developing his expertise with MIG welding. Liam’s interests in welding brought unique opportunities for storytelling this interest in his senior portraits. Jon photographed the welding images at the studio and then contrasted those with an outdoor session. It was a perfect combination for Liam and his family, and we’re excited to feature favorites from his sessions.

Congratulations, Liam, on all your accomplishments! We’ve loved celebrating you and your senior year!

The Koochel Family | Colorado Springs Family Adventure Portraits

When this family came in for their planning appointment for portraits, they had seen our Adventure Portrait Session and felt it would be a great fit for their first ever professional family portraits for their outdoorsy and “rambunctious” kids. They are an incredibly active family who love camping trips and whose kids play in a wide variety of sports ranging from baseball and swimming to ballet.

Our adventure session is ideal for active families whose youngest is at least 7 years old. These are longer sessions that combine an easy-to-moderate hike with portraits in settings that are off the beaten path of our typical family sessions. With their preference for forests and mountain views without red rocks, we matched them with an option in Cheyenne Cañon.

These portraits bring out the personalities across everyone in their family and capture the beauty of Colorado’s rugged outdoors with the people they love the most in life. We know their wall art captures so many Colorado memories from the adventures they share together in this season in life.

Landen | Liberty High School Senior Portraits | Class of 2022

We are beyond blessed by this family’s loyalty and inviting us to be their portrait artist for their kids’ senior portraits and family portraits since 2011.

Landen is an outgoing, friendly, and athletic high school senior who is pretty much either in school or on a basketball court. Basketball has been a huge part of his world for years – he competes on school and traveling teams and even loves shooting hoops in his leisure time. He’s looking at great options for college basketball scholarships and has multiple schools looking to recruit him.

Landen was excited to make basketball a big feature of his overall senior portraits, so we guided his family to combine two one-hour sessions: one at Liberty High School’s court and the other in the urban setting that Landen felt was his favorite look for the rest of his senior photography. Jon had a great time with him and has lots of favorites that we are excited to share.

The Lee Family | Colorado Springs Family Portraits

We have known the Lee family for a number of years and loved this opportunity to create family portrait art for their home in celebration of their 25th wedding anniversary! These key anniversaries often spark motivation for family portraits, and with both of their kids in college, it was an important time to capture their family of four before the make-up of the family changes over the coming years. You never know when wedding bells will start ringing…

We’re excited to share favorites from a great session with this family in Cheyenne Cañon. We always welcome the furry family members too, and the Lees enjoyed featuring their adorable mini-Aussie in some of the images.
