Gracie | Woodland Park High School Senior Portraits | Class of 2018

With the Class of 2019 senior portrait season well underway, there are a couple more Class of 2018 seniors we gotta feature before we switch our blogging to the incoming senior class. Gracie is certainly one of those!

Gracie is a smart, hard-working, “Southern Girl” who excels in volleyball. Over the years she has competed with both her school team and Team Colorado. She’ll be continuing to play competitive volleyball for her college team while pursuing a degree in Nursing. Gracie loves being outdoors hiking and enjoys photography. She also paints and loves the arts. She matched well with our one-hour Senior Session and loved Cheyenne Cañon as the setting for her photography. She’d had portraits done earlier in her senior year by other photographers, but her mom just hadn’t fallen in love with them. When she was referred to us, she booked a session in hopes of creating portraits she would love. At the View & Choose ordering appointment, every family experiences their first look of their finalized session portraits with an opening slideshow. I noticed tears in mom’s eyes at the end of the slideshow. Jon had captured Gracie in the way mom needed and wanted. What a joy and an honor to give this family portraits that truly capture their daughter.

Gracie, we’re excited to post a few favorites from your senior portraits. May these forever celebrate your high school years and your many accomplishments. We wish you our best as your next steps in life unfold!

Newborn Bridget | Colorado Springs Baby Portraits

What a joy photographing the newest addition to a family that has been with us for family photography since 2012. There is one very proud Big Sister in this family, and we adore the sister moments captured during the newborn photography session. While our newborn sessions focus first on portraits of the littlest one, we always strive to provide portraits within the session that also celebrate the family and each new relationship that has begun. While the days can feel so long, the years pass by so quickly. C.S. Lewis has a poignant quote: “Isn’t it funny how day by day nothing changes, but when you look back, everything is different?”

We are thankful that this family took time to create beautiful portraits at this tender stage and will have these portraits to forever remember welcoming sweet Bridget into their world.

Christian + Grace | Wedding Photography at Stonehaven | Colorado Springs

A huge CONGRATULATIONS to Christian & Grace! Grace’s family is incredibly special to us. This is our second wedding to photograph for them, and in between their older daughter’s and now younger daughter’s weddings, we photographed both Grace and her brother’s senior portraits during each of their years and the first year of baby photography for their first grandchild. How special to continue to be their family’s photography team!

Christian met Grace when he was stationed here in Colorado Springs with the military. Apparently he has impressive two-step skills and swept her off her feet…literally! Their paths have taken them to California, yet with Grace’s family roots and the start of their story here in Colorado Springs, it was fitting to begin their marriage here in the mountains.

They had a gorgeous summer day and a venue that backs up to the mountains on the northwest side of town. Their decor included fresh flowers throughout and fun, summery colors. Grace’s dress fit her personality perfectly. They were surrounded on their day by family and many close friends. Their personalized vows and “tying-of-the-knot” were highlights of the ceremony. We loved seeing how much fun Christian and Grace have together – their day was filled with laughter and evidenced the strong friendship they enjoy. Grace’s dad gave a wonderful toast full of great childhood stories during the reception. This family feels like family to us, and we loved being such a special and important part of this day for them.

Enjoy our favorites from their wedding day!

The Coakley Family | Family Portraits at Cheyenne Cañon, Colorado Springs

The Coakley Family is currently en route to their new home in Texas, and before they left Colorado Springs, they created beautiful family portraits with us. They chose the Cheyenne Cañon area as the setting for their photography because they love rivers, green tones, and all of the flowers that grow there this time of summer.

We’re excited to share favorites from their family session. All of our family portrait sessions include photographing a variety of groupings from the full family together to updated couple’s portraits and portraits of the kids together and individually. Whenever we prepare families for photography sessions, we encourage a cohesive look for their attire. We love their choice of dark blue for their attire – it’s the perfect compliment to the lush greens and brown stone tones throughout the canyon.  The Coakleys did a wonderful job and the result is beautiful!

Elijah | Colorado Springs High School Senior Photography | Class of 2018

Congratulations, Elijah, on becoming one of the newest high school graduates in Colorado Springs!

Elijah is a fashionable guy who loves city life and being surrounded by the colors and textures of urban architecture. He’s planning to pursue a career in marketing. While his photography session in downtown Colorado Springs focused most on Elijah with favorite outfits in great urban settings, we love the tribute to his grandfather he included in his session.

All of our high school seniors benefit from a pre-session consultation that plans the session. We want every senior to be fully prepared and build excitement for their photography session. We love hearing about all of their interests and activities and future plans, even when those aspects of who they are will not be a part of the session. We often brainstorm all sorts of ideas so that every senior can think about what they want to bring and never have a moment of “I should’ve” or “I wish I would’ve” after the session. Framed pictures can often help with storytelling portraits during the session, and we love that Elijah thought to bring the picture with his grandfather. Other families sometimes bring a childhood picture of their senior to storytell a “then” and “now” of how much their child has grown and changed over the years. Photography provides a priceless connection of the past to the present, and there are great opportunities to use pictures from the past in today’s sessions.

Enjoy some of our favorites from Elijah’s senior portraits!
