Joe + Haley | Colorado Springs Engagement Portraits

Haley’s family is an incredibly special family to us! We photographed Haley’s senior portraits (along with her brother’s and sister’s senior portraits for each of their turns), her brother’s wedding, family portraits, and a very rewarding project archiving generations of family pictures from the late 1800s and into the 1900s. We are honored to continue as their family photographer and capture Haley’s engagement portraits!

She and Joe met at the University of Michigan where they are completing their undergraduate degrees. They are both in the ROTC and will serve with the Air Force, accepting their first assignments to begin in the coming months. They are both incredibly dedicated and crazy smart, and we are thankful for the service they have given and will continue to give to our country. When they aren’t studying or completing ROTC activities and training, they enjoy cooking, camping, hiking, and have even run a marathon together!

We photographed their engagement portraits along Gold Camp Road to prominently feature mountains and forests in their photography. We enjoyed building a 5-piece metal art wall display for them that will give each of them a smaller collection during the time their military assignments keep them apart, and then come together in the full 5-piece display once they complete those assignments and are able to live together. We know these portraits will help them feel close and connected, even when they are apart.

Congratulations, Joe & Haley!

Danielle | Mesa Ridge High School Senior Portraits | Class of 2018

Danielle counts herself as one of Mesa Ridge High School’s newest graduates! We enjoyed photographing her senior portraits this past fall, and Danielle was one of our seniors who came to her pre-session consultation with some specific ideas and requests that we loved fulfilling. One of her biggest requests was to recreate the closing scene from the iconic 80s movie, “The Breakfast Club.” That movie was a favorite of mine for a very long time, so I knew exactly what she was describing. It was also refreshing to have a high school senior loving some of the movies we ourselves loved from our childhood and high school years – what a fun connection!

During her high school years, Danielle exceled both athletically and musically. She played alto sax with the marching band and competed in track. She’d also played volleyball and softball in past years; track ended up her favorite with the 100m sprint as her best event. In addition to these extracurricular activities, Danielle adores her dog and loves the color black. She describes herself as quirky, unique, and an “outside of the box” individual. She’s planning to pursue a career as a pharmacist.

For her photography session, the best location was her high school. Danielle loved connecting her senior portraits to the spaces that have filled her high school days and memories.

Congratulations, Danielle, on a great finish to high school. Our best to you with all your next steps.

Mason | The University School | High School Senior Portraits | Class of 2018

We just saw some great pictures from Mason’s graduation day on Facebook this morning, so what better reason to feature his senior portraits with us today!

Mason is an outgoing, center-of-attention-loving high school graduate who thrives in the outdoors. He enjoys football and loves his dog. He’s an avid rock climber and loves hiking, hunting, and fishing. Favorite places for his outdoor adventures include Telluride and Ouray in Colorado and lots of gorgeous places in Utah.

Mason’s family loved our Senior Experience, multi-hour, multi-location session structure for his senior photography. He matched well with the locations of Cheyenne Cañon up through sections of Gold Camp Road and then Garden of the Gods. Jon was able to weave in wonderful storytelling throughout his photography, and even Mason’s dog was a part of the adventures. You’ll notice snow in some of these portraits. Thanks to a Spring semester due date for the yearbook submission, we had a rare opportunity to photograph senior portraits in the winter months. Not too many seniors get to have the luxury of that timing!

For our rising high school senior families, keep in mind that the majority of our area high schools have due dates early on in the fall semester of senior year, so now is a great time to start the photography experience with us for your new senior!

Enjoy some of our favorites from an adventurous and outdoorsy senior photography session. Congratulations, Mason on officially becoming a high school GRADUATE. We know your family is incredibly proud!

Elaena | Pine Creek High School Senior Portraits | Class of 2018

Elaena counts herself among Pine Creek High School’s most recent graduates! Her family has made us their family’s photographer for the past 8 years, and we absolutely love capturing each of their milestones and important moments.

Elaena is intelligent, great with kids, and an accomplished athlete. While she has played most sports over the years, she finished high school focusing on basketball and track. Within track, her favorite events include the high jump and triple jump. We loved showing her athletic side during her senior portraits done in Red Rock Canyon. We love the variety of southern Colorado landscape found at this location, and many of our Colorado Springs local families enjoy this location for photography because of the smaller crowds found there.

As her next steps unfold, Elaena plans to pursue a degree in business or economics. We wish her our best as she begins all these new life chapters.

Gorgeous. Well done!

Sara | Colorado Springs High School Senior Portraits | Class of 2018

We loved photographing Sara’s high school senior pictures! She chose our one-hour Senior Session and loved choosing Manitou Springs as the setting for her photography. Manitou Springs boasts colorful backgrounds, quaint mountain-town shops and activity, and an eclectic array of textures and settings. Many of our artsy, creative high school seniors love choosing Manitou Springs for all these reasons.

Sara is excited to pursue her Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing. She’s already been working at a nursing home with her Certified Nursing Assistant license. When she completes her full nursing degree, Sara would love to be in the hospital setting, working with a wide variety of patients.

During high school, Sara competed in volleyball and cheerleading. Outside of school, she loves hiking and fishing in the outdoors. While she loves all the beautiful places in Colorado, she embraced the opportunity to experience the beauty of Canada. We can imagine a little of the awe she felt – our family had an amazing trip last summer through Glacier National Park, Yellowstone National Park, and Grand Teton National Park. While in Glacier, we made it all the way into Canada. While we will always be partial to our Colorado landscapes, the majestic beauty of the mountains and glacial lakes in Montana & Canada truly inspire.

Congratulations, Sara, on your high school graduation! We’ve loved creating your senior portraits!
