Erin | Pine Creek High School Senior Portraits | Class of 2011

Erin and her family moved to Colorado Springs from England just over 6 months ago, and being new to the area, their home seemed like a perfect place to begin her senior portraits session. We love the closeness between her and her mom and love her mom’s accent! It’s interesting that Erin does not have an accent, but I have to say that I just loved the wording they used about her pictures when they were choosing their favorites…they’d say, “I’m keen on that one” or “I’m not so keen on that one.” I love that word and no one uses it here, so it was fun and refreshing! Anyway, after portraits at her home (and many with her awesome dog, Roman, who Erin adores), we photographed her along the Edmondson Trail. I love how her portraits capture her quiet, natural, and genuine personality. Best wishes, Erin, as you complete your senior year at Pine Creek High School!

Derik & Abbey | Wedding Photography | First Presbyterian Church Downtown & The Warehouse

Derik & Abbey’s wedding day was both beautiful and fun. Abbey grew up attending First Pres Church in downtown Colorado Springs, so it was very fitting to have the ceremony there. We always love when our wedding couples have a connection with their pastor or officiant, and this was certainly the case for Abbey. The reception was at The Warehouse (one of our favorite reception venues with fantastic food). Their reception was very relaxed and gave both Jon and myself an opportunity to really get to know Derik & Abbey’s family and many of their guests. I love connecting with people at weddings and had so many great conversations that day. Probably the craziest moment for me was during Kristin’s (her maid of honor) toast. She talked about how she and Abbey met in Dallas in college…this sparked my attention since I went to school in Dallas…and then talked about meeting in the Hughes-Trigg student center. That’s when I could not believe that Abbey and I both attended SMU! Go Ponies! And there was a handful of her college friends who were also there. That was pretty fun to share the SMU experience with them. After the reception ended, we had a great time with Derik, Abbey, and most their wedding party taking pictures around downtown Colorado Springs.

Congratulations, Derik & Abbey!! We loved being a part of your day!

Garrick | Liberty High School Senior Portraits | Class of 2011

Garrick’s high school senior portraits session was a really unique one since Jon hiked a mountain with him! Garrick and his family have many memories over the years of hiking Mt. Cutler together and thought it fitting to capture many of his pictures there. We had never hiked Mt. Cutler (located in Cheyenne Canyon), and Jon enjoyed it so much that he brought our family out for a hike a few days later. We loved it too, and it’s the first hike that our 2 1/2 year old daughter, Natalie, has done on her “own feet.” Tyler (our now one-year-old…who just yesterday started walking!!) rode the whole way in the carrier (of course). Garrick’s family is really fun. I loved my time with them because they’re relaxed, fun, and have a great sense of humor. Garrick has some incredible images from his session, so enjoy our favorites!

And here are a couple of my favorites from our family’s hike up Mt. Cutler!

Elliott at 6 months | Baby Portraits

Elliott is just such a cute, happy baby. We’re actually about to photograph his 9 month portraits (so, hey…at least we’re catching up some!) but before that happens next week, we had to share a couple of pictures from his 6 month portrait session that always bring a smile to my face. Now you know it’s a great portrait when you’re in love with it and it’s not even your child!!

Ashley | Rampart High School Class of 2011 Senior Portraits

Ashley had a very memorable session with Jon…he pretty much about broke his ankle when he slipped up above Helen Hunt Falls toward the end of her session. Ashley’s incredibly athletic and plays both golf and soccer. Her participation in sports (and also her desire to pursue pre-med) were incredibly helpful after Jon’s fall since she was able to tape him up right there at the falls! Amazingly enough, Jon did not break anything, and his first description of the incident to me was that he protected all his camera equipment from harm…yes, his priority was to sacrifice his own body to protect his equipment!

Ashley’s sessions took her all over Colorado Springs…she was at the junkyard and railroad tracks, Old Colorado City, Garden of the Gods, and Cheyenne Canyon.

Ashley – Enjoy the rest of your senior year at Rampart, and our best to you as you begin college in the fall (hopefully at University of Texas)! Here are our favorites from your session…
