Jake & Kati’s wedding is coming really soon, and we loved doing their engagement pictures downtown! They are a fun-loving couple and share a love for Chipotle (it’ll be served during their wedding weekend too!), their faith, and each other. Travel is one of the things we LOVE to do, and while it is far more tricky with young kids, we make it a priority each fall to take a trip that takes us to a new part of Colorado. This past fall, we’d pretty much exhausted our possibilities for day trips so this was our first year to make our fall “drive” a fall “trip.” We spent 3 days and 2 nights traveling to Durango and Ouray. These travels are mostly about the journey and the sights along the way, and of course, fall is such a beautiful time to take in the turning of the aspens and the gorgeous colors that speckle the mountainsides.
We probably loved our 4-wheel-drive experience on Lime Creek Road the best – we got to see sights that take you far off the beaten path of the highway, and Jon, of course, loves using the Trooper for dirt roads that give him the chance to put the Trooper to the test! I’m still amazed that Natalie and Tyler managed to sleep through almost the whole way up this road since it was about the most jostled time of our hours and hours in the car. Despite Tyler being sick (not that you’d be able to tell from his pictures…the kid is almost always smiling), it was a fantastic time with some new fantastic pictures from our family’s adventures!

Two of our groupon sessions in late fall were mother & daughter sessions. There were so many beautiful moments caught during both these sessions, and I just love how you can see how much these girls love their moms. It’s a closeness and connection that I hope to share with Natalie when she gets to be in that early elementary school time of her life. Both daughters just lit up for the camera too, so there were so many adorable pictures of each of them. By coincidence, both these sessions were done at The Preserve in the University Park part of town. We’d never been there before, and we loved it for both sessions!

We had a fantastic trip to Texas for PPA’s Imaging USA Convention January 16-19th. Jon and I had not been in San Antonio since 2003, so it was really fun to be back on the Riverwalk. My parents live in Houston, so we actually flew the whole family down and left Natalie and Tyler with the grandparents! We got each of them a San Antonio shirt, and Tyler’s says, “What happens at Grandma’s, stays at Grandma’s!”…we thought it appropriate!
Our time at convention is filled with classes and the trade show. We always hope for just a couple of new ideas or inspiration to bring back with us, and it did not take long to have the new ideas to have made convention well worth the trip! Get really excited for some upgrades to our client experience! And the trade show is always fantastic…we get to talk face-to-face with our representatives and presidents of our various labs and production companies and make sure to check out new products to offer. It’s a crazy, loud, and crowded place, but we’ve come to look forward to the trade show every year.

Simply Canvas, our pro-lab for all our canvas art, recently requested studios to submit favorite images to them. Each year they look for fresh images to use in all of their marketing to professional photographers. We are thrilled that at least two of our images were selected by them and appear in the national ad below.
Imaging USA, the national convention for PPA (Professional Photographers of America) begins Sunday in San Antonio, and we’re in Texas now for it! We’ll be spending a good amount of our time at the trade show, and we’ll take pictures and let you know if our images also appear on canvas samples at their booth.
