Lina | Cheyenne Mountain High School Senior Portraits | Class of 2011

Lina came to us with lots of ideas for her session. She loved the junkyard, so we started there, and then explored parts of Old Colorado City for urban pictures before ending at Garden of the Gods to meet up with Smokey. Smokey is her stunning horse, and Lina is a very experienced rider. She rides with the Pikes Peak Rangerettes and competes throughout the year. We love that Lina brought her prom dress with her to use with some of her pictures with Smokey! And we wish her the best as she graduates from Cheyenne Mountain High School and heads off to CSU next year to pursue a career as an equine vet. From what we’ve seen, it’s a perfect career for her!

This image is the cover of Lina’s album…probably my favorite cover image of the season!

Melissa | Rampart High School Senior | Class of 2011

Melissa came to us later in the season for her senior pictures since she had an amazing trip to France during part of her summer! What a great time to experience part of Europe…and I’m definitely a little jealous since I have yet to get anywhere in Europe yet! But…lots of time to get there someday. Melissa is active in Rampart’s marching band and an avid reader. We started her session on the campus of Colorado College and then headed downtown for an urban feel and also to feature her love of reading in the restored Carnegie Room at Penrose Library downtown. Her session ended in Garden of the Gods, and we were able to take a few family pictures too. Enjoy favorites from her session!

Ricky | Widefield High School Senior Portraits Class of 2011

Ricky loves cars, and especially his car, and wanted an edgy, urban feel to his pictures. His dad, Rick Sr., is the owner of NAPA Express Auto Repair & Engine Exchange, so after spending time at our favorite junkyard and throughout downtown Colorado Springs, Jon also did some portraits at his dad’s place. We have known Rick for a couple years now, and it was really fun to meet his kids and work with Ricky. They are planning a family session at some point before Ricky graduates from Widefield High School, and we’ll be excited to photograph the whole family then! It’s always neat to use places that have important meaning for the people in our pictures. Here are some favorites…

I am in love with your work! Thank you for sharing! I am a fellow photographer, I do it mostly for fun and family. Could you possibly tell me where the junkyard that you use is? I LOVE IT and want to snap a few pictures of my son there. Thanks again, you are my new favorite photographers and I hope to have you take my families pictures someday! (We have 8!) Thank you!

The Murdock Family | Family Portraits

The Murdock Family called us one Saturday morning, desperately hoping we could fit them in at some point that day. They’d been planning to do an updated family picture and had realized that day that with all the soccer and activity schedules for the family, this day was the only day for months that would work. While it certainly was not an ideal time for portraits, we were able to squeeze them into a session at 2:30 pm. We’re really glad we could do this for them, because they have 7 kids and most of them are not pictured in the last family portrait they had. As you might imagine, we all thought it best to take their portraits at their home…would you have wanted to get 7 kids all ready for pictures and have had to travel somewhere??

They have an incredibly beautiful family!

Our Groupon Day…THANK YOU!!

WOW! Thank you, thank you, THANK YOU Colorado Springs families! We are overwhelmed by the response to our Groupon deal we offered yesterday! When the team at Groupon told us our phones would be ringing off the hook, but we literally experienced our phones ringing off the hook. I basically could not directly answer more than about 2 calls; the other 45 (yes, we had a total of 47 phone calls in a single day…) had to go to voicemail. I was literally on the phone the whole day. And I still have a fairly long list of calls to return today. So, if you’re on that list, be patient, and know that you WILL hear back from us as soon as possible.

We cannot wait to meet all of the new families, and we’re excited that we have many returning families taking advantage of the Groupon deal! We just wanted to let you all know that we truly appreciate you and are excited for the next 10 months filled with Groupon sessions!

We purchased the coupon yesterday and if the experience I had on the phone setting up our appointment is any indication of how the photo shoot will go it should be an amazing day! Lindsay spent over 15 minutes with me making sure the location of the shoot was indicative of our family’s lifestyle…she even made sure the time of day would not conflict with our 2 1/2 year old’s nap schedule. We can’t wait for the shoot!!
