Thank you to all of our friends and family and to the families we photograph who serve, past or present, in our military – we cannot thank you enough for the sacrifices you make for our freedom. And to those who have given their lives for the amazing blessing of freedom we have in our country, we remember and honor you on this Memorial Day.
Clay is about to officially graduate from The Classical Academy, so a big congratulations on graduation!! It’s been fun to have Clay’s family back for his high school senior portraits since we photographed his older brother a couple years ago and have also done family portraits for them! Clay was in for a quick yearbook session in the fall and then just recently had his full session. We were at the junkyard, downtown Colorado Springs, and in Manitou Springs during his session.
We’re excited to share a little more than just our favorite images from his session with you because his mom took pictures of the setting they were in for some of his portraits. We’re going to share a few of her pictures so that you can have a little “behind the scene” view before seeing the image that Jon captured there. Before Natalie and Tyler arrived into our family (and therefore, also our family business!) I used to accompany Jon and assist at every session. These pictures from Clay’s mom are so fun to me because I used to be at all these sessions and look at the exact same thing, but never ceased to be amazed at how differently, creatively, and artistically that Jon saw that same setting. So enjoy getting a sense of how Jon “sees” when he photographs. He truly has an eye for seeing beauty and using the ordinary around him to create stunning portraits!
And here are a handful of our other favorites from his high school senior session…

The Webster Family knew about us already, so when our Groupon deal ran, they were really excited to buy it for a session for their family! They chose Monument Valley Park for their session, and we have really loved getting to know and photograph this close, fun-loving, full-of-life family! I can only hope that our Natalie and Tyler will be best of friends as these brother clearly are. Enjoy our favorites from their session…
Just wait until you see our favorites from Aria’s newborn pictures! Her session was special because we did the first year photography for her big brother, Owen, so reconnecting with their family has been fantastic! It’s always so fun to see how much one of our babies from the First Year Package has grown up once a sibling arrives! Aria is just precious, and Jon’s really been enjoying using great areas and unique features of each family’s home for newborn photography. Enjoy!
Proud Big Brother!
BEAUTIFUL!
The Broadmoor can be a great location for family portraits since it offers both indoor and outdoor options during the session. We had a handful of sessions there over the past 6 months and have favorites from four sessions to share with you now!
The Colburns first came to us for Allison’s senior pictures, so it was fun to get a chance to meet her older brothers and see the whole family for pictures! We have truly enjoyed working with them, and as always, feel very excited and blessed to have families return to us.
The Bowen Family found us through our Groupon deal last fall. When they had their session, the Broadmoor was decked out with the Christmas decorations. If you’ve never visited The Broadmoor during Christmas, it truly is a fun experience to enjoy all the indoor and outdoor decorations and lights, and we always enjoy the gingerbread houses and edible creations on display!
The Sutherland Family also found us from Groupon and had a winter session. They are a fun and relaxed family that we hope to see again for another great session!
The Portugal Family first found us from Jon taking pictures of their older daughter, Portia, for Air Academy High School’s Tennis Team. We photographed her senior pictures a couple years ago and now saw the whole family for a great session featuring both the family and also great individuals of Portia’s siblings. The day of their session was a frigid and windy day, so The Broadmoor was a great location so that we had indoor options. They also braved the weather for some outdoor portraits too! Being a military family with their oldest out of state, Portia in college, and a move coming soon, there wasn’t flexibility for another day, so their session gives them a few fun, cold, memories of Colorado life in the Spring! We thank them for serving their country and wish them the best as they relocate to Arizona. Portia’s sister will be graduating in a couple years, and since we have family in Arizona, we’re talking about setting a trip for us to visit family and also take the senior pictures for Aleena in Arizona! We’d be really excited to make that work!! Destination weddings are something we’ve certainly done, so how fun to add destination senior pictures!
